The Castelcivita caves
Lying just outside the Parco Nazionale del Cilento, Vallo di Diano e Alburni, in the Province of Salerno, the Castelcivita caves extend for 4800 m, making them one of the largest speleological complexes in southern Italy.
There are two trails, both of which are easy to follow: the 1200 m trail is designed for tourists and takes an hour to complete; the second trail is 3000 m long, takes around 3 hours to complete, and is intended for amateur speleologists. The surreal active underground landscape, in which the ceaseless dripping from the ceilings continues to form stalactites and stalagmites, provides the backdrop for the numerous visitors throughout the year who explore the caves. This site is included in the circuit campania>artecard.
