Fontana Trinità – San Michele in Camposcuro Itinerary
This itinerary begins at Fontana Trinità [Trinity Fountain], accessible via a short section of paved road from Serre del Campo (Camposauro). Follow the dirt road that cuts across the Western slopes of Monte Rosa, through a beech forest, towards Monte S. Angelo.
Then take a right, and continue along the open section of road until you get to the Lampazzuoli beech grove, which leads to the San Michele plain. Here, you can visit the ancient hermitage located on the side of Monte S. Angelo, and take in the beautiful views of Valle Telesina.
The route is easily manageable on foot. The only water source is at the beginning (Fontana Trinità), and may not be available during the dry season. There is no mobile phone signal for most of the route (reception is only available at San Michele in Camposcuro).
Almost all of the cycle route is along a dirt path. Short sections of this route feature relatively challenging slopes. The surface is generally good, but depending on the season and weather conditions, it may pose some problems.
